General information
Solid stove is an ideal solution for all outdoor enthusiasts who want to comfortably prepare a warm drink or a simple meal even when away from home. The stove consists of two mineral tablets, an aluminum base plate, a windscreen, and a durable bottle.
How does it work?
At the heart of the stove are two highly absorbent mineral tablets. These can be repeatedly soaked with alcohol and ignited. The tablets retain their shape when burning, so they can also serve as a stand. Included in the package is an aluminum base plate for the tablets and a simple aluminum windscreen. The cooking procedure is as follows:
- Unroll the aluminium mat and place it on a flat surface.
- Pull the beads to remove the tablets from the bottle and place them on the base plate. If it’s windy, place the windscreen around the stove. Leave a gap of at least 1 cm between the windscreen and the mess kit.
- If you are boiling a smaller volume of water, you can use one tablet. When boiling a larger volume of water, place two tablets on top of each other. If the used tablets are not enough to boil the water, let them soak with alcohol for another 1 minute and then continue cooking.
- Ignite the tablets and place the mess kit with water on them. Caution: alcohol burns with a colorless flame and is not visible in daylight.
- When the cooking is finished, either let the tablets burn out, blow them out or cover them with eschus.
- Allow the tablets to cool and return them to the bottle.
Advantages of the Solid Stove
- It is not necessary to bring a stand. You can place the mess kit directly on the tablets.
- Each tablet functions as a small stove. Therefore, it is possible to prepare two different drinks at once.
- A bottle filled with alcohol is sufficient for 2 cooking sessions. Thus, for short trips, it is not necessary to bring an additional bottle of alcohol.
- You don’t have to worry about residual alcohol in the stove after cooking. With Solid stove, simply blow out the tablets, let them cool, and return them to the bottle. The remaining alcohol will then be used for the next cooking session.
- The tablets burn similarly to any other solid fuel. They can therefore be blown out or picked up. If you tip over the stove, you won’t have to deal with a burning puddle of alcohol.
Why an alcohol cooker?
The alcohol stove finds its use primarily during shorter weekend trips when you don’t need to carry much fuel. It will also certainly find its place in the backpack of adventurers who travel to places where gas cartridges are hard to find. As fuel, we recommend using at least 95% denatured alcohol. Conversely, we do not recommend using gasoline, kerosene, or other explosive fuels.
Fire is a good servant, but an evil master
Use the stove with caution and common sense. Do not leave the stove unattended and do not use it near flammable materials. Do not touch the tablets when they are burning or hot. Do not use the stove indoors or in poorly ventilated areas. Keep the stove out of reach of children and animals.
