Steve is a British adventurer, presenter, and writer. For many years, he has undertaken expeditions to the world’s most inhospitable places. Now, he has joined forces with DD Hammocks to co-design a hammock. After months of discussions and refinement, the DD Steve Backshall Jungle Hammock was created. A hammock packed with features you’ll appreciate not only in the jungle.
Swift and practical suspension system
Easy and quick hammock setup is ensured by the combination of lightweight and strong Dyneema loops on the hammock and multi-loop Daisy Chain straps. These wrap around the tree and clip with a carabiner. The large number of loops allows the hammock to be tensioned as needed without unnecessary re-tying. This solution is not only comfortable but also gentle on tree bark.
The impenetrable mosquito net
The densely woven mosquito net effortlessly handles all insects the jungle might offer. It also copes with the notorious Scottish midge, or our common mosquito. Unlike other DD hammocks, its tension is maintained by only one arched pole in the head area. This reduces weight and speeds up hammock setup.
Other features
A notable feature is the double bottom, allowing you to effortlessly insert a camping pad or insulation for enhanced thermal comfort. The hammock is underquilt-ready, featuring multiple loops for easy attachment. Last but not least, the hammock is equipped with several inner pockets, providing convenient storage for small items you may want to keep handy during the night.
Made from recycled materials
Although it might not seem so at first glance, the hammock is made from special DD recycled polyester. This material is not only very strong and breathable but is also made from over 200 plastic bottles.
